An Introduction to the Shopping Cart

How the Shopping Cart Works

The shopping cart, combined with the catalog page, is what allows you to sell your products online. With it you are able to collect orders, billing, and shipping information, as well as accept payment for your items online.

When a visitor views products on your website, they do so by looking at a catalog page that you've filled with your product information and images. When your shopping cart is turned on, clicking on individual products within catalog pages will enable customers to see more information on the product, and allow them to 'Add to Cart.' Individual product pages will also have a 'View Cart' and 'Checkout' link.

By clicking 'Add to Cart', the customer adds the item they're currently viewing to the list of things they'd like to purchase. When the button is clicked, the visitor will then see the items in their shopping cart. At any time, they can view the items they've selected by clicking 'View Cart'.

When the visitor is finished choosing items, they click 'Checkout' to complete the order and enter their billing, shipping, and payment information.

You can view any orders placed by your customers via the "Orders" Page in the "Edit Store" section of the website. Additionally your dashboard will now display a notification for any orders submitted within the last 7 days (increased from 24 hours). You can click on the notifications to be taken to the order to view it. You can also click on "Edit Store" to give you a daily sales total on the right hand column of the page.

Supported Currencies

If you have not previously set your currency you can do so by following these instructions:

  1. Click 'Edit Store' -> 'Payment Processing'.
  2. Select your currency from the drop down list of supported currencies.
  3. Select your payment processor and click 'Save'.
  4. After the settings have been saved you will need to contact Support to change your currency.

Note: Your website can be set up to display Euro, Pound, or Sterling symbols on catalog and shopping cart pages

Although your website can support several currencies, it can only support one currency at a time. For more information about supported currencies, please contact Support.
