My website is not secure

My website is not secure

Beginning in 2018, Google Chrome and other popular web browsers have begun displaying warnings in the browser address bar when any page of a website is not served through a secure HTTPS connection, even if it is not a page where any information can be submitted. This is part of a dedicated effort by Google to encourage the transition of all websites on the internet to eventually be served via the HTTPS protocol. This may result in users seeing security errors when visiting your website. It should be noted that your site is no less secure than it has ever been; merely, browser and web security standards have evolved.

We already include HTTPS encryption on several critical parts of our website builder platform - the checkout phase of your shopping cart, for example - but we are undergoing a large project to incorporate HTTPS encryption across all pages of your website. While we do not have a definitive estimated date for completion of this project, we are working as quickly as we can to roll this feature out to all users.

To determine if your website is secure, follow these steps.

How to determine if your website is secure

First, check to ensure your site has not already been secured. Visit your website outside of the website builder, and look at the address bar of the browser while navigating through a few of your pages.

If you see the padlock icon in the address bar on every page of your website, then your site is already secure and there is nothing else you need to do.

If you do not see the padlock icon in the address bar on any of your website pages, then your site does not yet have HTTPS support enabled. To have your website added to the HTTPS beta program, please contact our support team.

If you see the padlock icon on some pages, but not others, this means your site has HTTPS enabled, but the pages without the padlock include insecure mixed content. For more information about fixing this, please see our guide to fixing mixed content.
